Consign greenwash to the trash. There’s no point in spinning a few environmental and social sponsorships, extramural staff activities or corporate regenerations schemes in the annual report if, as in too many cases, the entire business hasn’t been carbon audited and doesn’t have a comprehensive sustainability policy. Our grandchildren demand as much.
If the USA adopts cap-and-trade policies as proposed by the Lieberman-Warner bill, we may at last be able to lead the world in sustainable economics says Peter Fusaro, interviewed this month. It will cost a lot but the money is there and will start to flow when investors start to see double digit returns from the sector.
I don’t suppose anyone has done a carbon audit on the Iraq conflict. A lot of oil went up in smoke there. But the Government has paid out more than US$6billion to private American companies for operation support and reconstruction and this month Exec looks at conflict dollars. It’s a controversial subject that makes fascinating reading.
