ARYx Therapeutics appoints Amgen Executive to board

David Beier, Amgen Senior Vice President, has joined the board of ARYx Therapeutics Inc, the Fremont biotechnology company announced today, August 29.

Beier is a veteran of the biotechnology industry and is currently Senior Vice President of Global Government and Corporate Affairs for Amgen Inc.

Commenting on Beier’s appointment, Dr Paul Goddard, ARYx Chairman and Chief Executive Officer said: “As each of our products moves through development, someone with David’s extraordinary experience will be invaluable in helping to position them in the marketplace. His expertise in health economics, reimbursement and outcomes research will aid ARYx enormously.

“In addition, someone who has equal experience in the management of biotech companies and the challenges of international politics can undoubtedly make invaluable contributions,” he added.

Prior to joining Amgen, Beier was a partner in the international law firm of Hogan & Hartson, and was Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Genentech Inc.
