Levi Strauss & Co said on Friday, August 29, that its Chief Financial Officer Hans Ploos van Amstel was leaving the jeans maker to pursue other opportunities.

Heidi Manes, the privately held firm’s corporate controller and principal accounting officer, will replace Van Amstel on an interim basis until a replacement is found.

Manes joined the firm in 2002 from KPMG LLP.

Commenting, Chief Executive Officer John Anderson said: “Hans was a key contributor in strengthening the financial performance of the company during the past several years. He helped us to improve our capital structure, reduce costs and debt, and enhance our financial controls, accounting capabilities and reporting processes.”

Van Amstel has served as CFO at Levi Strauss since 2005 after joining the company in 2003.
