Mashi Rahmani began his career at NASA, providing administrative expertise to scientists on the Apollo-Soyuz and Space Shuttle programs. In his ten years with NASA, Rahmani developed and honed the skills that he used to turn MMC into a specialized, multi-million dollar human resources management company.
NASA’s creative administrative structures were an inspiration. Rahmani’s work orders came from NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, but a company in up-state New York signed his paychecks. The benefit was clear: outsourcing human resources functions allowed NASA scientists to focus on their specialties, while the contractors took care of logistics.
“I asked myself, ‘Why don’t I use the same model for the private sector, or more specifically for physicians?’ Most doctors would rather give full attention to curing their patients than managing human resources issues,” explains Rahmani. This was the business model that inspired Rahmani to found MMC, Inc., as a company offering end-to-end human resources management to the medical sector. MMC has since grown to become a multi-million dollar company providing outsourced human resources solutions to medical, legal, and business professionals.
