Mikells to replace Brace as UAL finance chief

United Airlines parent UAL Corp said on August 15, that Kathryn Mikells will replace Jake Brace, who will retire on November 1.

Brace, 50, leaves the Chicago-based United carrier following failed merger talks with three major US airlines including US Airways. He has served as UAL's finance chief since 2001.

Mikells, 42, (pictured) is currently vice president of investor relations.

Since joining United in 1994, Mikells has worked in various roles including vice president of investor relations, vice president of financial planning and analysis and vice president and treasurer.

Before joining the carrier she worked in the corporate finance group of General Electric's GE Capital unit.
