	In the tradition of the Native American peace pipe ceremony or the coveted packed bowl set out by the fire next to a cozy pair of slippers at the end of a long day, pipe smoking is an art which has historically been promoted to foster relaxation and socializing -- a slower approach to life. On F<strong>ebruary 20th a much-anticipated yearly event for pipe smokers around the world will take place in the form of International Pipe Smoking Day.</strong></p>

	The appreciation of a fine bowl of quality tobacco has held a place in the hearts of generations of men, the act itself promoting feelings of well-being and contemplation, but enthusiasm for the habit has been threatened in recent years.</p>

	Once viewed as a dying breed, pipe smokers are finding new ways to network and band together in communities and online forums to celebrate the rich, historical tradition of the practice. The scope of the worldwide community has grown considerably in recent years through Twitter and Facebook, and specially-dedicated sites <strong>like PipesMagazine.com.</strong></p>

	It&rsquo;s the Christmas of seduction: a holiday where we get the chance to spice up something familiar.&nbsp; In December, it&rsquo;s Jesus; in February, it&rsquo;s just us.&nbsp; Get up and go this Valentine&rsquo;s Day with a cocktail that&rsquo;ll knock her socks off &ndash; and maybe more.</p>

	<strong>Mixing It Up</strong></p>
<p>
	Got the candles lit?&nbsp; The sauce simmering?&nbsp; Getting too old for mixtapes, and settled on the Coltrane record?&nbsp; Good.&nbsp; Now it&rsquo;s time to get shaking.</p>
<p>
	Make sure you&rsquo;ve got the things you need &ndash; nobody wants to drink a martini out of a coffee mug.&nbsp; Put together a little station with space for attractive glasses, ice, a shaker, some lemons or limes, and a plate of sugar for the rims.&nbsp; Remember: at least for tonight, it&rsquo;s worth the effort.</p>
<p>
	RECIPE &ndash; <strong>The Maker&rsquo;s Heart</strong></p>
<p>
	From master mixologist Ryan Goodspeed of Miami comes this tawdry, hot-blooded confection made with real berries and good whiskey.&nbsp; Like some dizzying tropical night, it&rsquo;s sweaty and sweet, with a bit of the unexpected.&nbsp; So don&rsquo;t drink them too fast, or you won&rsquo;t make it back to your room.</p>
<p>
	In a mixing glass combine:</p>
<p>
	3 Blackberries</p>
<p>
	1 oz POM 100% Pomegranate Juice</p>
<p>
	&frac14; oz Lemon Juice</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Muddle. Add ice and:</p>
<p>
	2 oz Maker&rsquo;s 46</p>
<p>
	&frac34; oz Sweet Vermouth (preferably Carpano Antica)</p>
<p>
	1 oz Simple Syrup</p>
<p>
	Dash of Orange Bitters</p>
<p>
	Shake and strain up or over fresh ice.&nbsp; Garnish with an orange peel. Rim with navel orange-zested sugar.</p>
<p>
	For sugar rim: Take one ounce of plain white sugar and zest it with four peels of orange.</p>
<p>
	&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	RECIPE &ndash; <strong>French 75</strong></p>
<p>
	&ldquo;A wealthy bachelor used to come visit me at a seafood restaurant in</p>
<p>
	San Francisco and order French 75&#39;s &ndash; in fact he taught me the recipe!</p>

	He liked his made with Hendrick&#39;s and Perrier Jouet, a freshly sliced</p>
<p>
	and squeezed lemon, and just a touch of sugar.&nbsp; Very classy.&rdquo;</p>

	Conjure up some old world ambience with this decadent delight brought over the pond by GI&rsquo;s who fell for the French while they were liberating them.&nbsp; Named after a gun, it&rsquo;s sleek, sexy, and strong &ndash; just like your love.&nbsp; Ah, l&rsquo;amour.</p>
<p>
	2 ounces Hendrick&rsquo;s gin</p>
<p>
	1 teaspoon superfine sugar</p>
<p>
	1/2 ounce lemon juice</p>

	5 ounces Perrier Jouet champagne</p>

	Shake well with cracked ice in a chilled cocktail shaker, then strain into a Collins glass half-full of cracked ice and top off with champagne.&nbsp; Garnish with sliced lemon and a maraschino cherry or two.</p>

	With a stripper&rsquo;s winking purity and a sly, self-conscious edge, this naughty concoction is Britney&rsquo;s sexy spirit in a sugar-rimmed glass.&nbsp; If your lady digs the pop princess&rsquo; saccharine tunes &ndash; and let&rsquo;s face it, who doesn&rsquo;t at some point? &ndash; then you&rsquo;ll have her saying &lsquo;Hit me baby, one more time.&rsquo;</p>

	So the<strong> Trunk Club eliminated that bi-annual task from men&rsquo;s pressing to-do list,</strong> enlisting experienced stylists to shop for them. PAUL, Minn.</span>, <span class="xn-chron">Feb. 16, 2012</span> /PRNewswire/ -- The White Earth Tribe announced today that it is launching <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span><i>Wins</i>, a proposal to develop a metro-area casino that the tribe would run in partnership with the <span class="xn-location">State of Minnesota</span>. Net revenues from the casino would be split 50-50 between the tribe and the state, and could fund the entire public share of a new Vikings stadium as well as critical state priorities for years to come. </p>

<p>"Minnesotans are growing frustrated with the many ill-conceived schemes to fund the stadium," said <span class="xn-person">Erma J. Vizenor</span>, Tribal Chairwoman of the White Earth Tribe. "<span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span><i>Wins</i> will provide much-needed jobs and economic development not only in the metro area but also in <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span>&#039;s poorest areas, and provide a continued revenue source for the state. All with no new taxes. We are confident that our solution is the fairest option for all Minnesotans." </p>

<p>While the intent of the <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span><i>Wins</i> proposal is to have a casino located in <span class="xn-location">the Twin Cities</span> metro area, a decision on the exact location could be complementary to the location of a new Vikings stadium.</p>

<p>The <span class="xn-location">White Earth</span> proposal was introduced in the <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span> House of Representatives this week (HF 2197) by Rep. <span class="xn-person">Kent Eken</span> (D-<span class="xn-location">Twin Valley</span>) and Rep. <span class="xn-person">Bob Gunther</span> (R-<span class="xn-location">Fairmont</span>) and has received Gov. Dayton&#039;s support. <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span><i>Wins</i> offers the following advantages:</p>

<ul type="disc">
<li>ALL money from this solution will stay in <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span>. Up to 2,500 construction jobs and 2,000 new, permanent jobs will be created. In northwestern <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span>, investments in housing and economic development opportunities will generate income and jobs for the tribe and other residents of the area. </li>
<li>This is the ONLY solution that is consistent with the original intent of tribal gaming. The <span class="xn-location">White Earth</span>/<span class="xn-location">State of Minnesota</span> partnership would offer true transparency because the casino would be regulated and audited by the state. </li>
<li>The <span class="xn-location">White Earth</span> solution would provide the entire public share of funding for a new Vikings stadium and create new revenue for other critical state purposes, all with NO new taxes. The casino would also continue generating revenue for the state after the stadium funding is complete. In addition, this casino will pay millions of dollars in sales and property taxes every year. </li></ul>
<p>The White Earth Tribe has retained experienced gaming financial advisors and is in the process of selecting a senior investment bank to finance the <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span><i>Wins </i>casino project. The Tribe has received proposals from six of the top financial firms. The financing for the <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span><i>Wins</i> casino will be secured by the cash flow and assets of the project. The White Earth Tribe will be retaining professional management to operate the casino and has also already received strong industry interest in that area. </p>

<p>The tribe has commissioned an independent financial impact study that will be available in early March.&#160; The White Earth Tribe and advisors have received positive feedback from investment banks that expressed confidence in investment options.</p>

<p>"Once our due diligence is complete, we will put forth only one fully researched and accurate estimate of the revenue this solution will produce," Vizenor said. "This solution will be financially sound, fair to all Minnesotans and consistent with <span class="xn-location">Minnesota</span> values and priorities."</p>
