A convertible allows you to enjoy two glorious creations at once, of both God and man. Dropping the top brings you into the environment as an active participant. Everyone else on the road is simply watching the world on television.
So we here at ExecDigital encourage you to get out into the open air and enjoy the weekend. After all, what good is a flyswatter that costs less than a hundred grand and can’t go at least 170 mph?
3 BEST BETS FOR CONVERTIBLE FUN:
1. Bentley Continental Supersports
Bentley says it’s a “British Masterpiece.” Its 621bhp turbo-charged V12 will get you way past 200mph and it will bring from a dead stop to 60mph in 3.9 seconds. With this kind of power, we’ll have to agree with the masterpiece conclusion. Did we mention it’s a Bentley? Yes, it’s gorgeous and smooth.
2. Maserati GranCabrio
If the Bentley is a masterpiece, then we’ll leave the Italians to usher in a renaissance. The Maserati GranCabrio is a wolf in impeccably tailored Italian clothing. Park this car and you’ll draw a crowd as it is arguably one of the best looking drop tops ever. That, however, would be a waste of a hungry 440bhp V8 capable of rocketing you to 170mph with the top down. At that speed, other motorists would simply see a great big trident filling their rearview mirror, followed by a roar, and then a gust of wind as you disappear on the horizon. Now that’s a Saturday afternoon!
3. 1970 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible
OK, we realize this choice may be a bit controversial, but admit it—you’ve always wanted to take one of these beauties to Las Vegas for the weekend. And this car will easily accommodate a moveable feast for you and several good friends. This baby came with an 8.2 liter V8 which made 400bhp. It weighs two tons, but it will still go 124mph. Just stay away from Mike Tyson’s house!
