At first, it was just a rumor – but after Ryan Seacrest appeared on The Today Show this week and revealed he’ll be joining the NBC team to present the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the accusations haven’t stopped flying. NBC officially announced that Seacrest, host of Fox’s popular reality show American Idol and producer extraordinaire (he’s responsible for the Kardashian takeover) would be joining the NBC team for the Olympics jaunt, but made no mention of whether the popular E! talk show host would be officially replacing Matt Lauer on The Today Show.

Lauer’s departure from his iconic place on America’s morning show roundup doesn’t come as a surprise – Lauer’s contract is up at the end of the year and he has already announced he plans to retire. It is the rumors about who will replace Lauer that have sent America spinning.

Seacrest sat across from Lauer this week as part of a long list of celebrities posing as guest hosts on the morning talk show - even Sarah Palin was along for the ride - and point-blank asked “What kind of conversations have you had with NBC about joining the ‘Today’ show?” to Seacrest.

Seacrest wasn’t very forthcoming when it came time to answer, and Lauer wasn’t willing to let up. The awkward interview continued until the joke had lost most of its gusto. As for Seacrest, who hasn’t stopped his juggling act since gaining fame as American Idol’s host during its inaugural season, he continued to remain mum about the 'Today' rumors.

So tell us, would you share your coffee with Seacrest? Or does he need to stay in primetime?
