Gone are the days where elite guests have to endure an awkward and prolonged conversation with a pimple faced, squeaky voiced concierge, just to glean a few insider tips at their favorite upscale hotel. Even Ritz Carlton’s concierges, who have always been first-class insiders, with impeccable tastes in dining and entertainment -- and are usually mouthwateringly attractive – are still only human, and thus cannot provide the kind of immediate accessibility and limitless knowledge that a mobile application can. So The Ritz Carlton – ever on the leading-edge of luxury – has applied their prized insight into what lavish vacationers really want, by releasing a new app that integrates exclusive tips, tours and the functionalities of Foursquare and World Concierge, into one effortlessly mobile platform.
The best part of this app is undoubtedly the Presidential Tips. Written exclusively by Carlton President Herve Humler, the tips share Humler’s exquisite insights into what makes his hotels outstanding at every step of the guest’s hotel stay. From detailing the location of the wildly gorgeous but covertly hidden garden in Sanya, or the infamous crystal chandelier in Doha, Humler presence on the app does what a concierge cannot – he customizes information based on a customer’s immediate needs, in an absolutely hassle free manner.

In a press release for the Ritz, Humler describes his role in the app, “"In my role, I am fortunate to be able to visit all of our stunning locations around the world. I want to enrich the Ritz-Carlton experience for our guests further with details about the things I have found to be quite unique and memorable in my travels. With The Ritz-Carlton App I can now do that very easily and in real-time," he says.
Other features of the app include detailed Cultural Art tours, Wine Pairing Guides, Digital Scavenger Hunts, and secret recipes for exclusive Carlton cocktails.
However, the app also streamlines the guest’s stay by using GPS technology to know when a guest has checked in, and to immediately begin servicing their stay with special offers, local nightlife recommendations and a syncing with the hotel’s activity calendar.
So until the Ritz Carlton comes out with personal robot versions of their elite concierges, their Ritz Carlton App will just have to do in providing their guests with the lavishly customizable service they expect and deserve.
