The biggest name in fashion is partnering up with the biggest name in online fashion – Karl Lagerfeld created a line of clothing to be launched exclusively on luxury retailer Net-a-Porter. As the Chanel creative director and all-around fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld is one of the most influential names in today’s modern fashion, so his creative clothing line will surely make headlines (hopefully not in the same way Missoni’s line for Target did).
Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet and Lagerfeld announced the news during Le Web conference in Paris this past week, a major investment for both the online retailer and luxury fashion house as Net-a-Porter will be the sole investor in all 70 original pieces from Karl.
Karl is the simple yet effective name of the new line, set to debut at Net-a-Porter at the end of January. Prices are much more reasonable than pieces from his full line with Chanel, ranging from $95 to $450. The collection, inspired by rock and roll, will debut during Paris’ Couture Fashion Week. Interested parties can sign up for Karl updates now, and even get automatically submitted to get updates from Karl’s own website karllagerfeld.com.
Considering the hoopla that surrounded Missoni’s discounted line, Net-a-Porter should prepare for a serious amount of online traffic come January 25 when the Karl line debuts.
