Rolling Stone Magazine has been keeping readers abreast on the greatest musicians since its first issue in November of 1967. Those who enjoy Rolling Stone have a chance for a whole new experience at the Rolling Stone Los Angeles Restaurant and Lounge.

RSLA is the first restaurant that Rolling Stone name will be licensed to, and the doors of the new restaurant will fly open to the public on February 1, 2011. The restaurant held a private debut for a private VIP party after the American Music Awards in November.

PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR

Located at Hollywood and Highland, Rolling Stone Los Angeles serves as a perfect spot for either vacationers who are enjoying the stars and sights of the City of Angels, but RSLA could become the newest venue for movie premiere after parties as the new lounge is a short walk from the Kodak Theater and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre – where many of those premieres are held.

To create the kind of experience RSLA wanted to embody with its new restaurant, Rolling Stone turned to designer Gavin Brodin.

Patrons of the new lounge come in to RSLA at the second level into a lobby featuring limestone floors that simulate cobblestone as well as an antique floor cart from an old citrus factory serving as the reception desk. Upstairs, up to 140 diners can fit comfortably inside Rolling Stone Los Angeles, and another 40 can relax while people watching on the patio.

The interior design of Rolling Stone Los Angeles is unique as fully detailed, larger-than-life images of famous musicians are carved into the concrete walls. RSLA’s décor finishes with antique ceilings featuring curved caged domes of glass and iron and lighting provided by street lamps and custom made crystal chandeliers.

“The travel lounges of the British ruling class meet the conceptualized Paris of the 1870s,” is how Brodin describes his newest masterpiece.

CONTINUING A TREND

Companies like the Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood were among the first to develop restaurant chains that have significant ties to Hollywood or the rock and roll lifestyle, and they have been successful.

With a notable and iconic name such as Rolling Stone, RSLA has the potential to be better than those restaurants if the company decides to expand the restaurant to other cities such as Las Vegas, New York or London.
