Apple CEO Steve Jobs is celebrating his 56th birthday on February 24. What’s the best – and most appropriate – way to celebrate? Release the latest round of Apple MacBooks, of course.
The internet has already been buzzing with speculations that the Apple MacBook Pro 2011 edition could be mere weeks away from release. Now it seems that the new MacBook Pro release date could be pushed forward to this Thursday, in order to sync up with Steve Jobs’ special day. According to the blog AppleInsider, sealed packages are already being sent to stores along with instructions to wait for a formal announcement before opening.

What’s in the box? We’re thinking MacBook Pros, but peeking inside early could lead to severe penalties so it could be days before we know for sure. A Thursday MacBook Pro release would buck the tradition of the usual Tuesday release, but then Steve Jobs and the Apple brand have never been ones for sticking with convention.
As with any big impending release, rumors are now cropping up all over discussing what sort of tweaks and upgrades the new MacBook will have in store. MacBook rumors from tech sources CNET and Boy Genius Report include OSX loaded onto an internal solid state drive for lightning-quick startup speed. The new MacBook may also be up to half a pound lighter than its older brothers, a welcome twist for MacBook fans on the go.
MacBook rumors aside, what we do know almost positively is that the new MacBook Pro will include the new Intel Sandy Bridge dual-core mobile chips. Though this chipset has seen some setbacks in the past few months, Intel’s new price list released yesterday includes the Sandy Bridge chips, indicating that Sandy Bridge (and the expected MacBook Pro by extension) is back on track.
